The film is one of the most popular satire on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The film was released in 2014 by Sony, which began renting out online video hosting sites such as YouTube and Google Play.
The story features James Franco as Talk Show Host and Seth Rogen as Producer. They want to have a respectable interview because their show is not a confirmation interview but a joke. One day, an article in a magazine revealed that Kim Jong-un was a fan of their show, so he had an interview. From here, as we all know, the CIA is tasked with killing Kim Jong-un. When he actually arrived in North Korea, James Franco’s character Dave Skylark joked that Kim Jong-un was right and his plans changed.
The story isn’t terribly interesting, but it is strangely watchable. James Franco’s character is portrayed in a way that does not take anything seriously. He later became a responsible person. Seth Rogen is also a good actor. Canadian actress Diana Bang, who plays Kim’s assistant, is also a good Asian-Canadian actress. Randall Park, who co-wrote the screenplay with Kim Jong-um, is arguably the best actor in the film. The comedy scene is as good as it gets. But when he meets his generals, he can act scary.
The film is a comedy that portrays the discrepancy between freedom of the press and control.
